A Little Corner of England

I recently was fortunate to travel to England and experience the energy of London as well as the quiet rhythm of the English countryside. As a travel advisor, I am invited on numerous trips to really dive into a region and understand it better. This trip gave me a few nights in London and then several days in the countryside with stone villages, sheep and historic hotels with inviting fireplaces.

This painting of the Queen is in the lobby of the Stafford Hotel, where I stayed in London. Tucked away in the heart of historic St James's but just a short walk to many iconic landmarks, The Stafford was perfect.

If you are going to London, you have to be prepared for wet weather, though this winter brought an unusual amount of rain.

Less than two hours from London is Stonehenge. A prehistoric temple with stones aligned with the movements of the sun.

The picturesque village of Broadway is often called 'The Jewel of the Cotswolds' for its limestone cottages and welcoming High street.

Blenheim Palace was built to honour the First Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. It's an easy 90 minute drive from London.

Amberely Castle in the Sussex countryside. A medieval castle built in 1103, now a luxury castle hotel with ancient walls and formal gardens.

Dinner at Amberely Castle. Food, wine & service fit for Queens & Kings!

Part of the ancient walls of Amberely Castle, now a Relais & Chateaux property. From Amberely, I took the train back to London. The train station was five minutes from the castle and I was at Victoria Station in 90 minutes.
